Winter Wellness Workshop with Sound Bath
A day of nourishment for mind, body and spirit.
Come and enjoy a nurturing day of therapeutic yoga, meditation, breathwork, mudra, mantra, relaxation, visualisation and sound with a small group of like-minded people.
This workshop will draw upon one of the teachings from The Five Elements Theory, used in traditional Chinese medicine as a method for promoting balance and good health. According to this theory, water is the element that is associated with the season of Winter. In this Winter Wellness Workshop, we will explore different aspects of the Water element through yoga, meditation, breathwork, mudra, mantra, relaxation, visualisation. A highlight of the workshop will be a healing Sound Bath.
Caron Lindley, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Nidra Facilitator (Red Hat Yoga), will lead the day. In the afternoon, we will welcome Charlie Merton, the hugely gifted and popular London-based Sound Therapist.
The Barn has been chosen as the venue as it is a beautiful, welcoming and accessible space. Numbers are limited to 16 people to provide an intimate and nurturing experience.
Morning session 10am – 12.30
Caron will share information about aspects of the body in relation to the water element. There will be a short mindful movement practice to tune into the body, followed by a long floor-based yin practice. These practices are designed to mobilise the joints, stimulate energy in specific Yin and Yang organs and nourish corresponding the tissues.
Since the ear is the sense organ associated with the Water element, we will weave sound into the yoga practices and meditations.
Lunch break 12.30 – 2pm
Lunch is not included in the day to offer you the flexibility to bring your own food, which you are welcome to eat at the venue. Alternatively, you might choose to book a table for lunch at The Tuning Fork Café, opposite The Barn. You might consider booking ahead to avoid disappointment as The Barn is busy at lunchtimes.
Afternoon session 2pm – 4.30pm
Charlie will lead you through a sonic healing soundscape which will include four gongs, Tibetan bowls, rain stick and sansula. This exquisite practice will bathe the whole body in sound. Waves of vibrational energy envelop the space with layers of sound waves. Feeling tones are heard, not just by the ears, but also felt, kinaesthetically, so the entire body comes a collective ear. The gong bath experience is like being wrapped in a powerful cocoon of pure holistic resonance. The powerful and wholesome tones enable the listener to disappear completely in the sound field resulting in a profound sense of well-being and inner peace.
After the sound Bath, Caron will facilitate a Winter Wellness Yoga Nidra. This will be followed by gentle mindful movement to ground you. Seasonal refreshments and a Q & A session will the bring the afternoon to a close.
The aim of this special day will be to rebalance, restore and build a reserve of energy, ready for the fast-approaching Christmas festivities and the long Winter season ahead. You will return home feeling extremely relaxed, re- energised and refreshed.
