EXPLORE THE AMAZING POWER OF YOGA

In this Spring workshop I will be joined by Gabi Caruso Kandir of Be the Change Yoga. Together, we have created an inspiring day to give you the opportunity to explore three different styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Yin, and Nidra. No prior experience of yoga is necessary. Posture variations and props will be offered to make the practices accessible to all.

Date: Sunday 15 April 2018
Time: 10.30am – 4pm
Venue: The Barn, Dolman’s Farm, Houlton, Rugby CV23 0AB
Number of places: Just 8 places have been allocated Red Hat Yoga clients.

Outline programme:
Morning practice with Gabi
Ashtanga Yoga: Philosophy, principles and practice
Ashtanga is a dynamic system that has the potential to promote vitality, strength and flexibility in body and mind. In this session you will be introduced to the principles of Ashtanga yoga and develop a basic understanding behind its philosophy and benefits. This will be followed by a guided flow (shortened sequence from the Ashtanga Primary series) where you will experience the foundations of this method such as breath, drishti (gazing point) and linking breath with movement.

Afternoon practices with Caron
Yin: A sequence for Spring
Yin is a floor-based practice which facilitates deep stretches in different areas of the body. This leads to a feeling of flexibility and a sense of lightness and ease. Yin is also said to help improve lymph flow and energy (chi) movement, essential for optimising organ health. But that’s not all; Yin will also encourage mental and emotional tension to fall away as you practice mindfulness, breathing techniques and mantras while holding the postures for an extended period. This Yin sequence will give a Spring detox to the liver and gallbladder.

Yoga Nidra: Renew and recreate
The afternoon will conclude with Yoga Nidra – the deeply relaxing and therapeutic guided meditation practice. If you’ve not experienced it before, it’s like falling asleep while being aware that your mind is awake and alert. You’ll experience periods of deep calmness, stillness and clarity while in and after Nidra. Caron writes her Nidra scripts and this Nidra will be dedicated to embracing the energy of Spring – the energy of action. This is great time to set new intentions, remove obstacles and manifest positive change in our lives.

Lunch and refreshment breaks:
A light vegan lunch, lovingly prepared by the wonderful team at The Tuning Fork Café, will be offered in The Barn. Fruit teas will be available throughout the day.

Investment/Booking:
Early bird registration and payment by March 19: £50.00
Registration and payment from March 20: £55.00
Including light vegan lunch and fruit teas.

Terms and conditions:
We regret that we are unable to refund or transfer your fee once you’ve booked. If you are unable to attend, then you are welcome to offer your place to a friend.

What to bring:
• Yoga mat
• Any props you like to use
• Cushion, pillow and blankets for Yoga Nidra

About the teachers:
Gabi Caruso Kandir was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For about twenty years she worked as a dressage teacher and professional rider. This was the original reason she moved to the UK from Brazil, as she was training to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games. For several reasons, in 2014 she decided to stop working with horses. Shortly after she made this decision, Yoga became a very important part of her life.
Gabi was trained in the Ashtanga yoga system by Manju Jois. He is the oldest son of Sri Pattabhi Jois, who is recognised worldwide as the primary authority on Asthanga Yoga. She also completed an Ashtanga teaching techniques immersion with Joey Miles (KPJAYI authorised teacher) at Triyoga London. Currently, she continues to study with Joey and other great Ashtanga teachers including David Swenson and Petri Raisanen.

Caron Lindley experienced yoga for the first time, in her teens. Caron continued to dip in and out of the practice throughout her life, exploring a variety of styles, mainly for the physical benefits. A marketing career kept her busy until her early fifties, when she rediscovered yoga as an invaluable tool for managing stress and anxiety, calming the mind and gaining clarity. Caron started yoga teacher training (Hatha) in 2012 and then transitioned from corporate life to full-time yoga teaching a few year later. Caron continues to invest in her teaching skills and is now proud to offer a range of yoga styles to meet the needs of her clients. Caron offers private yoga sessions, classes, workshops and retreat in Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
