Creative Yoga Retreat in South West France
Sweet Nothings ArT and Craft Retreat
I love taking time out to attend retreats. It’s the perfect way to escape the normal routine and enjoy complete mental and physical rejuvenation. I don’t just go on yoga retreats, I also attend experiential retreats to explore new ideas and learn new skills.
Last Summer, I went on an amazing pastel painting retreat in St Valiers, South West France. The retreat centre, a former farm, is called Sweet Nothings Arts and Crafts Retreat and it’s run by husband and wife team, Lawrence and Natalie. I had a great time unleashing my inner artist, not attaching myself to the end product but simply immersing myself in the beautiful french landscape with easel, paper and box of pastels. While I was there, Natalie, asked me to teach some yoga to the group. We had a wonderful time and agreed that Yoga, Arts and Crafts are a perfect combination.
And so the idea emerged for a Creative Yoga Retreat and in October 2019, several of my yoga students accompanied me back to Sweet Nothings, this time for Yoga, Eco printing and Stitching. We had a wonderful time. As well as enjoying morning and evening yoga sessions each day, we tried our hands at printing natural patterns with leaves and seeds, turning the results into little fabric samplers. Afternoons out included a visiting the market, wine tasting in St Emilion, mindful walks around the beautiful Guizengard Lake, a visit to the awe-inspiring 12th century monolithic church in Aubeterre.
