Yoga Class Styles

Yin Yoga

YIN YOGA is a meditative, floor-based practice. Poses are selected to mobilise specific joints, release the hard-to-access deep connective tissues, massage targeted internal organs and stimulate energy flow in the meridian lines. Yin is the perfect companion to an active 'Yang' exercise routine, a stressful lifestyle and busy mind. Poses are held for a period of time and encourage you to become still and mindful. People love how Yin transforms how their body feels and how calm the mind becomes after just a few sessions.

MINDFUL SLOW YOGA

MINDFUL SLOW YOGA is a slow-paced Hatha Yoga style. A range of yoga postures are explored and modifications/challenges offered as appropriate. This helps everyone go at their own pace and feel included. The overall aim is to re-balance our energy through focused breath-work and movement so that we can enter a place of stillness and state of peace. The classes also includes mindfulness and meditation practices to calm the mind. We also enjoy mantras and poetry to encourage self-enquiry and inspire personal change. Regular class members are also delighted with their improved posture, strength and flexibility. This style and class is suitable for all levels. Beginners are warmly welcomed. Classes friendly and supportive. You are encouraged to do what you can without striving to push your glorious body beyond its edge. Simply come, be present, enjoy what you can do and don’t worry about what you cant!

Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra

Restorative Yoga utilises props such as a bolster, pillows, cushions, blankets, yoga bricks and blocks to support the body in different shapes. Restorative Yoga helps the body relax deeply, switch off specific muscles and reset the nervous system due to the extended time your rest in each shape – usually around 10 minutes.

In the second part of the class, I offer you an extended Yoga Nidra session. Yoga Nidra is a guided, deeply restful, therapeutic meditation practice. It is said that an hour of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent of four hours deep sleep. You can take your Nidra seated or lying down. Absolutely nothing is required of you other than to follow my voice while I guide you to rest deeply.

I design my own Yoga Nidra scripts, having been trained in a range of Yoga Nidra style. No two Yoga Nidra sessions are the same as I work in real-time drawing upon the energy of the group. At the end of the Yoga Nidra session, you'll feel deeply rested, lighter and more at ease in your skin. People often sleep better as a result of regular Yoga Nidra practice and also say it helps lower blood pressure, combat lifestyle stress, manage pain, anxiety, depression and soothe challenging emotions..

Ayurveda Yoga (Flow with the Seasons)

Ayurveda Yoga is a very special class and the only one of its kind taught in the area. Inspired by my training in Ayurveda (the ancient Indian science of vitality, health and balance), I design each class to encourage seasonal balance. Classes offer practical information for seasonal self-care along with a nourishing seasonal yoga practice.

stretch, Breathe and meditate

* NEW * Stretch, Breathe and Meditate is a class in three sections. First we will stretch and relax the muscles involved in the breathing process. We will then discuss, learn and practise a different breathing technique. In latter part of the class, I will guide you through a meditation practice and offer you the space and time to sit in comfortable stillness.

Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding, the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated as birds’ wings.
